Summertime sometimes gets my creative juices flowing, since I need an outlet and am home with all of my kids everyday. All it takes is one thing to get it started and the popsicle idea started with a little sign I saw on Instagram from a small shop maker @baileysbranches. Soon after, I came across the cutest popsicle towel in Homegoods. It was all downhill from there and my next tiered tray idea was born!
Banner #1
Firstly, I knew I wanted to do a tiered tray so I immediately hit Pinterest for ideas. I wanted a mini banner and both banner ideas I ended up doing were inspired by Pinterest of course. Here is the banner I first found and tweaked to my own liking…
This banner was perfect and all I did was just change the shape a bit. Here is what I did and the easy process:
Materials
2 shades of each color paper (i.e. light pink/dark pink, light green/dark green)
pencil
scissors
rubber cement
baker’s twine
small hole punch
popsicle sticks (I used mini ones, but you could take regular ones & break them in half)
Step 1 – Draw & cut out a shape for body of Popsicle. Trace that shape to make others.
Step 2 – Draw and cut out middle pieces – two rectangular pieces. I made one and then traced it to make all the others.
Step 3 – Glue 2 rectangular pieces to coordinating color popsicle
Step 4 – Glue popsicle stick on back
Step 5 – Punch 2 holes on top and thread twine through holes!
Probably didn’t need to type out those steps, but you get the idea of how easy this is. If you have a Cricut or Silhouette then you can go that route too!
Banner #2
This idea also came from Pinterest and requires almost no creative skills at all. This was my inspo pic:
I could not find paint samples that had space without the color names plastered all over the paint swatch. I ended up grabbing Behr paint cards because they had the most open space. They looked like this and I used the 2 sides to cut the popsicles:
Did this to all the different colors and ended up with all of these beauties!
Here is how my tiered tray came out with the banners and all the goodies I found…
I’m linking some of the items used on my tray for your convenience too!
Banner #3
This banner made with pool noodles I didn’t get a chance to make but is super cute and easy too! I’m linking the blog post HERE.
Popsicle Crafts
I think it would be so fun to throw a popsicle themed party for summer, whether it be for a birthday or just for fun. Here are some other ideas and links I found!
SPONGE POPSICLE
These would be cute props for a party or just a fun summer play food toy to use in a dramatic play area or play kitchen. Blog post on these HERE.
BALLOON POPSICLE
An adorable summer party prop made from balloons? YES PLEASE! Blog post link HERE.
If you’re planning any popsicle decorations in the future hopefully I gave you some fun ideas. Before my interest in home decor, I spent most of my time party planning! Now that my kids are getting older, I don’t get to plan many cutesy parties anymore! I may just do it anyways. Have fun creating!
